Ajinomoto Joins Forces with DIW, UNIDO, and ICETT to Drive Thailand’s Food Industry Toward Sustainable GHG Reduction.

Recently, Ajinomoto Co., (Thailand) Ltd. reinforced its leadership in tackling climate change by advancing its carbon management strategy in the food industry. The company remains committed to driving concrete actions across every dimension of the supply chain. Mr. Smith Phetdi, Sustainability Promotion Department Manager, served as a keynote speaker on “Strategies for Sustainable Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the Supply Chain” at the workshop on “Latest Trends in Policies and Measures to Promote Carbon Neutrality in Thai Industry and Guidelines for Calculating and Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions,” held at Mida Grande Hotel Dhavaravati, Nakhon Pathom.

The event was jointly organized by the Department of Industrial Works (DIW), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the International Center for Environmental Technology Transfer (ICETT), Japan. Its objective was to disseminate the latest guidelines and measures—ranging from supply chain greenhouse gas (GHG) calculation methods, carbon footprint assessment, and systematic energy management, to industrial case studies and organizational knowledge-sharing. The initiative placed particular emphasis on the food industry and related sectors, encouraging them to become greener and achieve measurable reductions in GHG emissions. This marks a significant step for Thailand in advancing sustainable development in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Mr. Smith Phetdi stated:
“For Ajinomoto, reducing greenhouse gas emissions is not merely about complying with international standards. It is about creating shared value for society, communities, and our planet. The future of Thailand’s food industry must move forward hand in hand with environmental responsibility, and concrete carbon management is the foundation that will drive both business and society toward achieving the SDGs.”
This participation highlights Ajinomoto’s strong commitment as a global food manufacturer to addressing climate change—an issue that directly affects food security and the global economy. At the same time, the industry holds tremendous potential to accelerate sustainability. Guided by the framework of Ajinomoto Group Creating Shared Value (ASV), the company aims to generate value across the economy, society, and the environment. Ajinomoto continues to advance effective GHG management across all Scopes, a core strategy for achieving Carbon Neutrality and realizing its Net Zero target by 2050.
