Recently, Ajinomoto Co., (Thailand) Ltd. reaffirmed its leadership role as a Representative of the Food and Beverage Industry Group under the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) by advancing strategic approaches toward a low-carbon business model. The company is implementing concrete measures across its entire supply chain to address climate challenges. Mr. Smith Phetdi, Sustainability Promotion Department Manager, served as a keynote speaker on the topic “Opportunities and Challenges for the Food and Beverage Industry in Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions” at the seminar titled “Financial Pathways for Supporting Environmental Management in the Food and Beverage Industry to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions,” held in the Mandarin A and B rooms at the Mandarin Hotel, Bangkok.

The event was organized through collaboration between the Thai Climate Initiative (ThaiCI) Fund and the Environmental Fund, under the Fund Management Bureau, Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The primary objective was to facilitate knowledge exchange among food and beverage businesses regarding strategic GHG reduction, supply chain environmental management, and access to green financing sources—including grants and low-interest loans from ThaiCI and the Environmental Fund.

The seminar also highlighted an open call for project proposals related to GHG emissions reduction from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the food and beverage sector. These funding programs are designed to incentivize private-sector players to adopt more sustainable business practices based on efficient resource use and environmental restoration.

Mr. Smith stated: “Tackling climate change is not the sole responsibility of any one party; it requires collective action from all sectors. The food and beverage industry, in particular, relies heavily on natural resources, consumers, and the global economy. As a business within the global food chain, we are not just ‘producers’—we must also act as ‘stewards of the planet’s resources.’

Ajinomoto Thailand
is accelerating its GHG management efforts across all scopes with full commitment, driving the transition toward carbon neutrality to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050. This aligns with the company’s sustainability framework, the Ajinomoto Group Creating Shared Value (ASV), which aims to create shared value across the economy, society, and environment. The company is also collaborating closely with partners across the supply chain to promote responsible agriculture and support a sustainable future for all.
