From “Waste” to “Power for Change”: Ajinomoto Empowers Eco-Active Employees through GREEN EMPOWERING AWARD FY2025 for Sustainable Growth
Ajinomoto Co., (Thailand) Ltd. continues to strengthen employee engagement in driving sustainability through the GREEN EMPOWERING AWARD FY2025, organized by the Sustainability Promotion Department, Head Office. The initiative aims to enhance knowledge, raise awareness, and inspire innovative environmental ideas, particularly in plastic waste management, which remains one of the most pressing global challenges requiring collective action across all sectors.

The program provides a platform for employees to showcase their creativity and potential. All participants are required to apply by submitting a video presentation outlining their sustainability ideas, reflecting their perspectives and proposed solutions to environmental challenges. This serves as a starting point for transforming ideas into tangible actions.

As part of the program, a Waste Management and Recycling Workshop was organized in collaboration with the TerraCycle Thai Foundation in the form of a Sustainability One-Day Field Trip. This activity offers employees hands-on learning experiences (Experiential Learning), covering key topics such as plastic waste challenges, proper waste segregation, and end-to-end waste management from upstream to downstream.

One of the key highlights was the canal clean-up activity at Lat Phrao Canal, where participants were able to witness environmental challenges firsthand, including the volume of waste in waterways and the impacts of improper waste management. A total of over 2,114 kilograms of waste was collected and directed into 100% recycling processes, thereby helping to prevent leakage into the Chao Phraya River and the ocean, while also reducing landfill disposal.

Beyond raising awareness, the program also fosters system thinking skills and encourages the development of sustainability initiatives through knowledge sharing and employee-led idea presentations. These ideas address key areas such as motivating waste segregation behaviors, reducing plastic waste within the organization, and extending impact to surrounding communities and consumers.

The GREEN EMPOWERING AWARD FY2025 represents another significant step for Ajinomoto in unlocking the “Eco-Active” potential of its employees, thereby empowering them to become key drivers of sustainability within the organization and beyond. The initiative aligns with the company’s goal of achieving zero plastic waste by 2030 and promoting a recycling society based on the circular economy concept.

This approach reflects Ajinomoto’s commitment to conducting business under the Ajinomoto Group Creating Shared Value (ASV) principle, which focuses on creating shared value for society, the environment, and the business in a balanced manner. The company believes that true sustainability begins with individual action and grows through collective efforts to create long-term positive impact for both society and the planet.
