Recently, Ajinomoto Co., (Thailand) Ltd., led by Dr. Thongdee Paso, Managing Director, together with James Scott, Executive Director of TerraCycle Thai Foundation, and Ms. Kanjana Chansarkaew, School Director of Thepwittaya School, officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to launch the “Green School Program” under the “Waste to Worth for Well-Being” initiative. The collaboration aims to promote sustainable waste management while fostering environmental awareness among youth.

This partnership marks another significant step in advancing social sustainability through initiatives such as the School Waste Bank and Experiential learning activities. The program also includes workshops on plastic types, proper waste segregation, and efficient resource utilization, delivered in engaging and accessible formats. These activities provide students with hands-on learning opportunities, encouraging active participation while nurturing environmentally responsible behaviors from an early age.

The Green School Program builds upon the success of the “Green Classroom Day” initiative, during which Ajinomoto donated student desks and chairs made from upcycled flexible plastic packaging to the school in November 2025. Beyond reducing plastic waste, these materials serve as tangible examples of the circular economy in action, helping students connect sustainability concepts with their everyday lives.

Under the “Waste to Worth for Well-Being” initiative, Ajinomoto has implemented a post-consumer flexible plastic packaging collection system in collaboration with partners and local communities. Collected materials are processed through appropriate waste management solutions, including energy recovery and upcycling into valuable products such as school furniture and storage units. This approach reflects the company’s commitment to transforming waste into meaningful value.

Ajinomoto firmly believes that “sustainability begins with small actions close to home,” and that building a truly sustainable society starts with equipping young people with knowledge, awareness, and a sense of responsibility from an early age. The Green School Program therefore goes beyond waste management by fostering positive attitudes, behaviors, and social responsibility, laying a strong foundation for long-term sustainable development.

This collaboration also reflects Ajinomoto’s commitment to conducting business under the Ajinomoto Group Creating Shared Value (ASV), which aims to create shared value for society, the environment, and the business in a balanced manner. Through this initiative, Ajinomoto aspires to empower Thai youth to become responsible citizens and key drivers in shaping a more sustainable future.
