Ajinomoto Foundation grants 20 Million Baht to support 20 canteen construction under "Ajinomoto for Thais: Better Nutrition, Stronger Nation" project
On August 23, 2019, Mr.Wanlop Sanguannam (3rd from left), Assistant Secretary General of Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) and Mr.Phichien Koosmith (3rd from right), Vice Chairman of Ajinomoto Foundation together with top management, presided over the presentation ceremony granting 20 Million Baht to support the canteen construction of 20 needy schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission selected in the 5th year under "Ajinomoto for Thais: Better Nutrition, Stronger Nation" project. The ceremony was held at the OBEC 1 conference room, Ministry of Education. The money presentation under this project has been conducted for the 5th consecutive year since the schools throughout 4-year projects were selected and already finished the construction.
“Ajinomoto for Thais: Better Nutrition, Stronger Nation Project” is one of CSR activities of Ajinomoto Co., (Thailand) Ltd., which the Ajinomoto Foundation has been signed MOU with Ministry of Education on February 10, 2016. Under the MOU’s term, both organizations will jointly implement the construction of 50 sanitary canteens for needy schools nationwide while enlightening good nutrition practice to its teachers and personnel at the total budget of 50 Million Baht, conducting 10 schools per year, effective for a period of 5 years, starting from the year 2016 onwards. Moreover, during 2017-2018 the Foundation also provided support to more 20 needy schools under the “Intensive Care Unit Schools Project” (ICU School) according to the education policy of government sector in helping schools that need urgent supports while selecting more 10 needy schools as the additional schools to the existing project. There were total 80 sanitary canteen constructions at the budget of 80 Million Baht in total.
Through envisioned outcomes including the “50 Years 50 Schools project”, there will be 130 sanitary Ajinomoto’s canteens covering needy schools across the country and more than 50,000 students therein will acquire amended nutrition which truly helps support their education development and grow up to be the key driving factor of Thai society.
