Bangkok – September 9, 2025 – AminoMOF by Ajinomoto Co., (Thailand) Ltd., a leader in promoting ‘Eat Well, Live Well.’ lifestyles through its expertise in “AminoScience,” has partnered with the Young Happy Community to host the grand opening of the “MOF ME UP,” a resistance band fitness campaign designed to inspire adults aged 40 and above to stay strong, active, and healthy. The event at Samyan Mitrtown drew a lively crowd of seniors and health experts, underscoring that age is no barrier to movement.

In 2025, the WHO1 reported that the global population aged 60+ is projected to double, rising from 1.06 billion in 2020 to 2.13 billion by 2050. Southeast Asia is expected to see one of the fastest shifts, with the senior population growing from 77.4 million to 173.3 million, or 22%. This rapid aging trend creates financial and social pressures on healthcare systems, but it also presents opportunities for more inclusive societies where older adults remain active in their communities. Thailand itself is moving toward becoming a super-aged society, with nearly one-third of the population projected to be over 60 by 2030,2 with more than 52% of Thai seniors already experiencing muscle loss (sarcopenia). From the age of 40, muscle mass naturally declines by about 1-2% per year, and this condition is considered a geriatric syndrome, affecting up to one-third of the elderly population.3

Ms. Roann Co, Director of Ajinomoto Co., (Thailand) Ltd., said, “As the initiator of MOF ME UP, Ajinomoto Thailand is reinforcing our role as a leader in promoting ‘Eat Well, Live Well.’ through our expertise in “AminoScience.” We are committed to supporting the health and well-being of Thais across all generations, especially in today’s aging society, which requires proper and continuous care.”

Speaking on collaboration and senior empowerment, Mr. Chakrit Promyos, CEO & Co-Founder of Young Happy Co., Ltd., added, “MOF ME UP is not just an exercise program, it is a healthy community for seniors, where everyone can move safely, enjoyably, and sustainably. We believe that Thai seniors have incredible potential and energy. With the right tools and support, they can live stronger, healthier, and more meaningful lives every day.”

Dr. Chantas Mahaisavariya, Assistant Professor, Kanchanaphisek Medical Center, Siriraj Faculty of Medicine, Mahidol University, commented, “Loss of muscle mass reduces older adults’ ability to perform daily activities. Warning signs include decreased handgrip strength, slower walking speed, or difficulty with routine tasks. Older adults should begin with aerobic activities such as walking or tai chi and avoid very heavy lifting. Regular exercise supports heart and lung function and helps preserve muscle mass. In addition, consuming protein that contains the essential amino acid leucine can help build muscle strength and support overall health.”

The launch of the “MOF ME UP” campaign featured a variety of activities designed to promote physical health and enhance quality of life, including:

  • Pioneer Batch Showcase: Participants who completed the pilot program shared their real-life experiences of improved strength and vitality.
  • Expert Talks: An orthopedic specialist discussed ways to build muscle strength and prevent muscle loss, while AminoMOF experts highlighted the role of essential amino acids, especially leucine, in supporting muscle health.
  • Health Activity Zones: Visitors enjoyed healthy smoothie tastings, MOF ME UP Bingo with prizes, health product booths offering special promotions, and free muscle mass assessments.
  • Balance and Gait Assessment by NAYA LivWell: Seniors are guided to recognize the risks of falling and provided with advice on improving stability and reducing the likelihood of falls.

AminoMOF was showcased alongside these activities, demonstrating how essential amino acids, especially leucine, help support muscle strength, joint health, and overall well-being, complementing regular exercise.

Following the success of the Pioneer Batch, which saw more than 110 participants and an 80% completion rate, the program will now expand nationwide. MOF ME UP will target over 800 participants aged 40 and above, offering a 15-day online program via Zoom and videos clips, with a special starter kit available for only THB 329 (valued at THB 1,259).
