This initiative aims to enhance safety for cleaning personnel and operational staff under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), as part of the Magic Hands project in honor of World Ozone Day.

Ajinomoto Thailand [HO] has been continuously implementing environmental and waste management practices based on the 3Rs principles under the Green Office project. This includes organizing sustainability activities, providing education, and encouraging employees to sort waste at the source. We have collected everyday used plastics, including plastic water bottles, stretch film, and used plastic packaging. Over 120 kilograms of plastic water bottles were delivered to GC YouTurn for recycling. This initiative is part of the Magic Hands project in collaboration with the Department of Environment, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). The collected plastic water bottles will be transformed into recycled fibers, woven into fabric, and made into “Reusable Reflective PPE” to enhance safety for cleaning personnel, street sweepers, and waste collectors, thereby improving their quality of life with safe work attire that protects against various hazards and unexpected accidents.

The Bangkok Magic Hands Project has established a collaboration with the Less Plastic Thailand network, the Thailand Environment Institute (TEI), the PPP Plastics group, the Won Project, the Packaging and Recycling Management Institute for Sustainable Environment (TIPMSE), and YouTurn by GC to promote waste management through everyone's magic hands. Various types of plastic waste will be processed through recycling to create benefits following the principles of the circular economy, fostering sustainable development by maximizing resource utilization. Additionally, this initiative aims to reduce the amount of waste disposed of into the ocean or landfills, contributing to environmental restoration marine resource conservation and protect the ozone layer, thereby creating sustainable well-being and happiness in Thai society.
