On September 19, 2022, the official opening ceremony of the "Biomass Cogeneration Power Plant" was held at Kamphaeng Phet Factory as an exemplary "Greenest Factory" of the Ajinomoto Group of companies in Thailand in order to respond to the Group’s commitment in 2030 to reduce our environmental impact by 50% and to become "Carbon Neutrality" with an effort to achieve Net-zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 2050.

Our "Biomass Cogeneration Power Plant" at Ajinomoto Kamphaeng Phet Factory was constructed with an invested budget worth 1,500 million baht to produce electricity from alternative and renewable energy sources "biomass" to reduce the use of electricity from energy sources that cause environmental impacts with a capacity of 9.9 MW. We use rice husks which is agricultural waste as the biomass fuel to generate electricity without the use of fossil fuels as a result it does not pollute our planet and is environmentally friendly. One more thing, it makes a difference to Thai farmers making more profit and improving their quality of life.

Our "Biomass Cogeneration Power Plant" at Ajinomoto Kamphaeng Phet Factory will additionally support CO2 reduction by 50,000 tons a year, which enables us a reduction of CO2 emissions by 180,000 tons in total per year, or the equivalent of carbon dioxide absorption by over 20 million trees. This will be one of the key factors to support the national agenda in line with the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG model) that will lead Thailand towards sustainability goals.

Ajinomoto aims to support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Company integrates these goals into its business operations to ensure that the Company’s growth takes place in a sustainable manner. As above-mentioned, "Biomass Cogeneration Power Plant" consistent with sustainable development goals No.7 Affordable and clean energy by increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix by 2030 (7.2) and No.13 Climate Action by alternative or renewable energy usage on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning (13.3)
